กิ้งก่าเขาหนามสั้น

กิ้งก่าขนาดกลาง มีความใกล้เคียงกับกิ้งก่าเขาหนามยาวจันทบูรมาก แต่ช่วงหนามที่คอเว้นชัดเจน และเขาที่ตามีลักษณะสั้นกุด ทรงหน้ามีความมนกลม ลำตัวมีจุดประ หรือ ลายด่างๆ อาศัยในป่าดิบชื้น และป่าดิบเขา หากินตามพื้นป่า กินแมลงขนาดใหญ่ ลูกกบ กิ้งก่าขนาดเล็ก และ ไส้เดือน บางทีอาจเจออาศัยในโพรงดินได้เช่นกัน กลางคืนขึ้นมาเกาะนอนตามโคนต้นไม้ หรือ ต้นไม้ที่ไม่สูงจากพื้นดินมากนัก ตัวเมียมีขนาดใหญ่กว่าตัวผู้ วางไข่ครั้งละ 8-10 ฟอง กิ้งก่าแรกเกิดมีตัวสีน้ำตาลคล้ำ มีจุดประตามตัว พบกระจายตั้งแต่ภาคตะวันตกลงมาถึงภาคใต้ตอนบน อาจพบได้ในภาคตะวันตกของมาเลเซีย
A medium size lizard , look very similar to Southern horned lizard but differ by this lizard have a large black bar across the neck and robust body , the color of this lizard are dark brown and have a much black variable color pattern on it .Diets of this lizard is small invertebrate especially an Earthworm , some time this specie prefer a small frog and lizard too . This species inhabit rain forest habitat sometime can be found in montane forest range from north west , western and south to Phuket Isl. Out side Thailand is Burma and Lao .

A large male from Erawan fall NP.
